Removal of Dark Circles Under Eyes
Dark Circles Under Eyes
Some say that it isn’t gray hair or wrinkles that really make you look old but it’s dark circles under eyes that make you look aged. Dark circles have the propensity to make you feel old, tired and lacking in good health. They usually aren’t dangerous, however, and aren’t usually a sign of any kind of serious illness.
Dark circles are increased areas of pigmentation beneath the eye that are round and uniform. They can affect men, women and children, too. There is treatment for dark circles under eyes that ranges from using make up to having laser treatments done to reduce the appearance of dark circles. No treatment is perfect so you need to be realistic about the outcome of the procedure or technique to get rid of them.
You can get dark circles if you don’t get enough sleep or if you party too much but even if you don’t do those things, you can still get them. They can be hereditary or can be a “normal” part of the aging process. Some common reasons you can get dark circles under eyes include:
- Eczema
- Allergies
- Heredity
- Smoking, drinking caffeinated beverages or drinking alcohol
- Nasal congestion, which increases the pressure in the veins under the eyes so they get darker
- Pigmentation problems, more common in Asian people or in blacks
- Exposure to the sun, which increases the pigmentation of the skin
- Thinner skin, which has lost its fat and collagen. This increases the appearance of the blood vessels beneath the skin.

You can use cold compresses such as frozen peas or frozen spoons under the eyes to get rid of the dilated blood vessels, at least temporarily. Elevate the head of your bed to keep puffiness away from your lower lids. Make sure you get enough sleep so your eyes look fresher and more alert. Use sunscreen and wear sunglasses so the sun doesn’t increase the pigmentation of the skin under the eyes.
If you have blocked sinuses, use a Neti pot to drain the sinuses with saline water. This improves blood flow in the area. Cosmetics can cover up the dark circles under eyes. Use good products that contain vitamins to help protect your skin. You can use a good concealer that is peach colored so that it covers the skin as much as possible and reduces the appearance of dark circles under eyes.
